In the works belonging to this cycle Paolo da San Lorenzo envisages the home as a symbol of the human soul and the “Portal” where all the signs of time come to rest. It is here that the sun and snow, the wind and rain, carve out deep cracks and lesions, just like life, where joys and disappointments mark people’s lives. He strives to show all this on his canvases using emphatic gestures and material colour that is sometimes deep and intense, and at others is grainy, opaque and dissolves as an allegory of time that consumes men and matter.
